Palawan2014 Baywalk

After Plaza Cuartel our next stop was Palawan Puerto Prinsesa's Baywalk. Kuya Loel mentioned that this place used to be a squatter area. The government converted this place into a baywalk same in what we see in Manila Bay. The people used to live here were given new house by the government. The government of Palawan provided them tenements just the opposite side of the baywalk.

The weather that day was little bit gloomy. I find the place perfect spot for dating and jogging especially in the morning. Kuya Loel mentioned that during night, bbq stalls are open and some night activities are being held here.

Palawan 2014(Puerto Prinsesa)- Immaculate Conception Cathedral

Our next stop was the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception located along Rizal Avenue Barangay Liwanag. One of the listed spot to be visited every time I travel is the churches. Its speaks more of the place, its history, people and traditions.

As part of the visit of course is the lighting of candles "dagkot" in bisaya. It is one of way of offering prayer of thanksgiving, petitions and protection.

Bintot Visits Santander

Santander is at the southernmost tip of Cebu. From it, one can see the islands of Negros and Bohol. Facing Tañong Strait, the town was originally also called Tañong. But with the coming of the Spaniards, its first parish priest, keeping a soft spot in his heart and wishing to perpetuate the name of his hometown in his newfound abode, renamed the place Santander. Santander is in the northern coast of Spain, one of its chief ports and a famous bathing resort.
The town was established in 1867; the parish, in 1897. The church was the work of Fr. Mauricio Alvarez, who was also credited for the building of the cemetery and convent, a bridge, two schools, and the tribunal. Andalecio Ondangan held the distinction of being the first capitan during the Spanish times. The first resident who served as president during the American regime was Macario Culanag. Celestino Bureros was the first mayor.
Santander is the third smallest town in Cebu. But it has turned out many professionals. Majority of the people depend on the sea for livelihood --- fishermen who continually explore the vast Palawan and China seas in search for rich fishing grounds. The methods of fishing used is the popular muro-ami.

I visited Santander for a very important reason. One of my best mentors in high school mom died so as soon as I heard about it, we decided to pay a visit on her wake.

DUST it OFF :)

Last Monday when I played tennis on the third set, my racket string got busted!
Though for the past few weeks, I already anticipated for it but I asked myself why now? Why now when I was eager to win for this third set after losing the first two.
Then I realized that in life, there are situations we can't really control. I want this and that but it will never come into fulfillment. That's life and it must go on. So the following day, I wanted to play tennis but I don't have racket to use so I decided to go for gym. I ran for 3o minutes, stationary bike for about an hour and some weights. If I opted to sit and continue to grieve over the busted tennis string then I would never sweat and burn as much as 800 calories. If we never learn to dust if off and move on then we will be staying in stagnation. Stagnation in grievances, complaints and dissatisfaction and these would hinder our growth. So whatever happens in this journey of life, learn to appreciate it. If we fall, learn to stand, dust it off and press forward.

Dust it off!

FEARLESS

As I about to sleep, I listened to the song Fearless and was struck by these lines.

Lord You are fearless
Till death You saved my soul
A heart so selfless
My sins You conquered all
God in Your grace now
Oh I will do the same
To be as fearless
To stand and to proclaim

Heavenly Father, praise You and thank You for the gift of life. I humbly ask for forgiveness at times that I turned my back, forgetting You as my Heavenly Father. I know that you have been fearless in loving and accepting me despite all my shortcomings, my frailties. Heavenly Father, may You continue to tap my shoulder and keep me reminded of your greatness. May I continue to transcend your love to my brethren especially those who have turned their back to you. May I be fearless as You are to stand and proclaim of your everlasting Love. I lift up to you  my kababayans in Bohol and Cebu  who were affected by earthquake that they may  continue to be Fearless knowing that You are greater than all these. May they see and find You in these most difficult time of their lives, cuddle them Heavenly Father especially in times that they are tired, hungry and felt being forbidden. Thank you Heavenly Father. Amen.
